Aske House Works

Glen,

I undertook a site inspection today and would like to extend my appreciation to yourself and the contractor the good progress made on site, the attitude to Health and Safety with regards to housekeeping and appreciate the difficulties of undertaking this type of work in full occupation.

Kind regards,

Thanks for this, it is much appreciated by the team, the TMO Board and the residents.

It is good that you have also identified future works.

Burlington Arcade

Polyteck have just been awarded the decoration and lighting contractor to renovate the Burlington Arcade in Piccadilly. www.burlington-arcade.co.uk

To secure its future the new owners intend to restore the Burlington Arcade to its original glory. To enable this they have commissioned conservationist and heritage architect Michael Blair (who also worked on The Connaught…)

5 Aside Football

On Friday 18th November, Polyteck arranged a 5 aside Tournament with MERJS, Morrisons and Acorn.

This was held at the Power league in Old Street on indoor pitches.

The Tournament arranged as a ‘friendly’  became very serious as soon as kick-off commenced. To name a few, MERJS produced a very strongly (named) team consisting of

Ricky “The Masher” Miles and Andrew “The Lollipop” Ladopouli.

Morrisons by far had the loudest goal keeper – Paul Edwards who made some outstanding saves and even more outstanding noise.

Acorn - the team to be feared meant business proving this as Darren Wills, Glen Cook and Paul Donaghue (to name but a few) placed on their shirts, (sadly these consisted of Liverpool and Arsenal )

And Finally Polyteck,  Also known as The 3 A’s – Andrew  ’The Whippet’ French  played outstanding football, Andy ‘The Fox in the Box’ Stylianou scored a hat trick within 6 minutes and Arron ‘The Wizard’ Wallis – showed everyone that not only does he look like Beckham but he can bend a ball like him also.

After a grueling 2 hours of pain, sweat and aching legs, Acorn lifted the trophy of success.

Well done to all in attendance – well played by all.

Bird Repellent Gel with Natural Active Ingredients

About Bird Free

Bird Free was approved for use in the UK in February 2011. Since then it has been installed, with instant results, at a number of commercial sites (please see case studies).
Bird Free is a truly innovative means of keeping birds away – without harming them – from structures where their presence could jeopardise human health or human safety. As such, it has already drawn the attention of the print media, and has been featured on radio and television (see Bird Free in the news).
Controlling the behaviour of urban birds, such as pigeons and gulls, so that it doesn’t endanger the safety or the health of humans is becoming a growing challenge for organisations responsible for managing and maintaining large buildings and other structures, in both the public and private sectors.
Pigeon droppings contain ammonia and salt which, when combined with rainwater, lead to electrochemical reactions that rust steel and cause serious structural weaknesses. This process is thought to have been a contributing factor to the collapse of bridge 35W in Minneapolis on 1 August 2007, which resulted in 13 fatalities.
Pigeons are naturally drawn to dark spaces such as those below bridges or inside car parks since they are descended from cliff-dwellers. Such spaces offer shelter from predators, and flat surfaces for nesting and roosting.
The large concentrations of bacteria and highly corrosive uric acid contained in pigeon droppings cause irreparable damage to concrete, to historic stone structures, to the plaster and stucco used on the exterior of buildings and to the mortar used in restoration work.
Threats to human health arise from the fungus which grows in pigeon droppings, which can cause respiratory diseases, with potentially serious consequences in vulnerable humans.
It is important to emphasise that the Bird Free solution, offered in the UK by JJBio (UK) Ltd, is designed not to harm birds; it is simply designed to keep all birds away from places in our urban environment where their continuing presence could cause hazards to human health or human safety.

How it Works

  • Instantaneous bird rejection response through irritation, smell, sight, taste
  • Changes bird behavior so that they go somewhere else
  • Does not kill or trap birds
  • Long-lasting expelling effects for harmful birds

Recommendation to George Polycarpou

Good Morning,
We handed over the kitchen here on Friday and the client was very impressed with the standard of workmanship and the attitude of the operative working there. The extractor fan was still to be connected and he asked if you could take a picture of this once it has been done please?

Kind Regards

Solar panels are not a nuisance

The Leasehold Valuation Tribunal ruled that installation (by a subtenant) of roof-mounted photovoltaic panels on a dwelling did not amount to "causing a nuisance" (entitling the superior landlord to initiate proceedings to forfeit the headlease). Moreover, the superior landlord’s refusal to grant consent to the installation of the panels was unreasonable. (Re 11 and 27 Parklands View (Forfeiture) [2011] EWLVT MAN/LV/FFT/00CF/0002 and 0003.)
